OVERSEAS MARYLANDERS ASSOCIATION (OMA) GATHERING
Friday, 1 April – Saturday, 2 April 2016
UMUC Inn & Conference Center
Adelphi, Maryland
You are invited to our annual OMA Gathering at the UMUC Inn & Conference Center in Adelphi, MD, April 1 and 2. (For those who remember a College Park address, be assured that everything remains where it was. “Adelphi” is a postal sub-area integrated into College Park, the town many will remember for UMUC offices). The Inn, adjacent to the UMUC Conference Center, is operated by Marriott.
We expect that this year’s Gathering will attract veteran faculty and staff members from America’s first and most successful university degree program for overseas-deployed service members and their families as well as from UMUC’s civilian international programs.
Besides catching up with colleagues from the Maryland overseas programs and exchanging “war stories,” this meeting will focus on the 60th anniversary of the Asian Division, 2016, and the 70th anniversary of UMUC, 2017. President Javier Miyares will lay out where UMUC is today. Among the discussion topics will be a possible video on overseas service and a call for photos, films, interviews, artifacts and ideas to help document that amazing chapter in American higher education. The ultimate aim is to make this video good enough to reach one of the cable channels.
